Teodor Coman
First Prize laureate at the Bucharest Conservatory, Teodor Coman won the First Prize at the Romanian National Viola Competition every year from 1981 to 1987.
In 1986, he was awarded the Second Grand Prize at the Maurice Vieux International Competition in Lille, and in 1988, he obtained the National Diploma of Advanced Musical Studies in Bucharest. In 1990, he was appointed principal viola of the Orchestre National d'Île-de-France. In 1993, he became a member of the Paris String Trio, and in 1995, he was named principal soloist of the Orchestre National de France.
He taught at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and the CRR of Rueil-Malmaison until 2003. He was also a member of the Arpegionne Quartet and the Renoir Quartet. Since 1991, he has played a viola crafted by Frédéric Chaudière.
