Patrick Naef
Patrick Naef was born in Fribourg (Switzerland) on 31 December 1963.
After obtaining his baccalaureate in 1982, he entered the professional class at the Conservatoire de Fribourg (Switzerland) and obtained his clarinet teaching diploma in 1985 in the class of Frédéric Rapin.He was then admitted to Thomas Friedli's clarinet class at the Geneva Conservatoire and obtained his virtuosity diploma in 1988. He has also benefited from the advice of W.Boyekens, K. Leister and G. de Peyer, among others.
Patrick Naef has taught clarinet at Fribourg Conservatoire since 1982. He has given chamber music recitals in Switzerland and Japan (Tokyo and Hiroshima). He also plays regularly with orchestras in the region (Orchestra de chambre de Villars-sur-Glâne, Orchestra des Jeunes de Fribourg, etc.). In 1998, 1999 and 2003, he was invited as an expert to sit the entrance examinations for the Geneva Conservatoire and the Swiss Youth Competition (CSMJ-Concours Suisse pour la Jeunesse).
Patrick Naef also took singing lessons at the Conservatoire de Fribourg. He has directed the mixed choir of St-Maurice (Fribourg) since 1992. Since 1997 to 2019, he took over as director of the Maîtrise de Villars-sur-Glâne. Since September 1999, he has also conducted the ‘Oekumenischer Chor Freiburg’.Patrick Naef is dean of the woodwind classes since 2016 at the Conservatory of Fribourg.
